DIY Lithium Ion Battery Bank

Project Synopsis:

Project Goal:

Build my own Lithium Ion Battery Bank that I can use to store power.

Project Impact:

I can fulfill one of my goals of bypassing traditional energy infrastructure by moving some small portion of my power use off the grid and harvest solar energy into common Lithium Ion Batteries. This project will synergize well with my other projects by providing a small yet stable source of energy for mobile and small household devices.

Project Budget:

Initial budget: $30

Final budget: TBD

Steps / Tasks:

  • Research rechargeable lithium ion batteries – determine voltage, mAh capacity that will fit within the budget – what type of battery holder, if any, may be required?
  • Determine and purchase charge controller that can both control the charging and discharging of the bank of batteries
  • Determine what type of case or packaging is appropriate and economical

Lessons Learned:
